UV Oil
Being exposed to the elements all year round, our outdoor wood surfaces go through a lot. In particular, the effects of sun bleaching can completely ruin the appearance of wood, and can even warp it in some cases. Fortunately, Treatex UV Oil acts as a reliable shield against harsh UV rays. Made from a combination of natural, refined oils, our expert formula is effective at penetrating into even the most dense types of timber, providing a strong, long-lasting defence.
Alongside its durable properties, Treatex UV Oil has a clear finish, allowing you to make the most of your timber’s natural beauty. It’s also highly water-resistant, so you can count on it to protect your wood come rain or shine. This UV wood protection product is suitable for most vertical timber applications, including fencing, doors, windows and other outdoor structures. Please note that because of the use of sustainably sourced natural oils, Treatex UV Oil is not suitable for horizontal surfaces.

Preparation/Application
Preparation
Treatex UV Oil works best on unfinished timbers, as previous finishes will stop the UV oil from penetrating the timbers properly. So previous finishes should be lightly sanded and removed before any application. Ensure the timber is dry and clean, removing dirt, grease, algae and any other contaminants.
Mix multiple tins together for large jobs and ensure you have enough product before starting the project. We recommend a trial application before starting the full project. The timber must have a moisture content below 18% and the ambient temperature should be between 8 and 25 degrees celsius during application and drying.
Application
Stir cans thoroughly beforehand and during use.
Apply Treatex UV OIl using a brush and roller, ensuring you are moving in the same direction as the wood grain. Apply liberally to the end grain and coat all sides at least once.
Leave for 12 hours, then apply another coat of UV wood protection. Leave this for 12-14 hours to fully dry.
Tips
Treatex brushes and rollers are available. Wet brushes and rollers can be cleaned with Treatex Thinner or white spirit.
Store tins in a cool and frost free environment. Unopened tins will last for five years. Once tins are opened, transfer contents to a smaller airtight container.
Treatex UV Oil can be used as a protective top coat of applications of Treatex Exterior Oils and Classic Colours

External Oak Protection
While our External Oak Protection was highly successful, it was limited to treating timbers such as Oak or Idigbo. Our UV Oil replaces the External Oak Protection as it is a more diverse product, providing a clear, UV resistant and weatherproof finish to most timbers.
You can use it to treat external oak surfaces, softwoods and hardwoods. You can also use it to apply a clear finish or change colour.
