Bangkirai Oil

A 2.5L tin of Treatex Bangkirai Oil will cover an approximately 50 m squared area, depending on the thickness of application and type of timber. This wood finish product tends to work better on untreated timber, as it’s able to better penetrate the wood and offer more robust protection. For best results, only apply on clean, dry surfaces.

Preparation

Whilst Treatex Bangkirai Oil can be applied over most previous finishes it works much better on unfinished timber. When overcoating a previously finished surface, a trial application is essential. If a previous finish is to be overcoated then it should be lightly sanded. Flaking or peeling finishes must be fully removed prior to application. Ensure the timber is dry and free from possible contaminates e.g. algae, grease, dirt, dust, etc. We advise that when using Treatex Bangkirai Oil, sufficient product is purchased to complete the whole project and when more than one tin is required it is advisable to mix them together before use. Timber must have a moisture content below 18%. Temperature must be between 8º𝚌 and 25ºc during application and drying. We strongly recommend a trial application prior to starting the project.

Application

Stir tins thoroughly, before and during use. Use a brush or roller to evenly apply Treatex Bangkirai Oil. Bangkirai Oil is not a surface building product. Pay particular attention to end grain, on end grain apply wet on wet until product is no longer absorbed by the timber. After approximately 12 hours the first coat can be overcoated. Apply with a brush or roller a second coat of Treatex Bangkirai Oil.. After the second coat leave for approximately 12 hours to dry.

Treatex brushes and rollers are available.
Wet brushes and rollers can be cleaned with Treatex Thinner or white spirit.
Store tins in a cool and frost free environment. Unopened tins will last for five years. Once tins are opened, transfer contents to a smaller airtight container.
